RECREATION LEASES

Land for hire for hunting, fishing, & nature exploration

Description

Some rural landowners are gaining income and managing their deer by leasing use of their land in exchange for cash or services. Leases can be written to permit deer hunting, small and big game hunting, hiking, bird watching, fishing, and other recreational activities. The income possibilities depend on the specific lease agreement. Forest owners should first learn about changes to insurance coverage. The lease can continue for years if you make a point to lease to ethical hunters who will not harm the resource.

Example: Leasing access to a productive fish pond.
